If you live around our church on the hill, you will know that last Saturday, September 24, we had a church bazaar. It is an annual event. Somehow every year it is pulled off. It is a lot of work but it is really a wonderful service to the community and a joyful event. Everybody really went out this year. We had housewares and all kinds of furniture, crafts, clothes and jewelry. We had bicycles and baked goods. We had BBQ from Wholly Smokes Food Truck. It was SO good. We really had a treat. The Presbyterian Women sponsor the bazaar. They worked all week putting it together. Altogether we raised over $2000 for mission. ALL the proceeds from the Bazaar go to mission. What a success! What a community builder! Thank you to everyone who worked, donated and cleaned up.
A special thanks to Gail Stokes, editor of All About Seniors, and Steve Luck, a Silver Hair Legislator, who spoke to us today. We have two new resources to add to our toolbox!

What a resource for the needs of senior adults! I did not even know this organization existed until today.
This organization was created:
* To identify issues, concerns and possible solutions for problems faced by the citizens of South Carolina, with special emphasis on issues related to seniors.
* To make recommendations to the Governor and to members of the SC General Assembly;
* To educate the public on Senior issues
* To encourage seniors to participate actively in public affairs;
* To function on a nonpartisan basis;
* To promote good government for all South Carolinians;
* To hold a Legislative Session annually
Sunday, June 26, we will have a potluck and special program following worship, 11:45am-1:45pm. With this program we begin series of educational and fellowship opportunities for seniors and their caregivers called “Aging With Our Eyes Open.” This first program will be entitled “Planning for our Later Years: Wills and Estates.” Our guest speaker is Giovanni Luccia, an elder at St. Giles Presbyterian Church and a financial planner at Ameriprise Financial on Pelham Road. All are invited!
We finished up our Bible study on 1 John today. We were reminded that God loves us; therefore, we must love one another. John meant the Early Christian community loving one another but we know through Jesus’ words and actions that that also means loving our neighbor.
We begin a new study next Thursday at 10:30. We will be studying Acts. We look forward to the journey we will take with the early church as it learned how to love each other and the world! Come join us.
We are half way through our bible study on the First Letter of John. What an interesting look at an early Christian fellowship! “We love because he first loved us.” (4:19) Come join us next Thursday at 10:30am. We are on Chapter 3 now. We will catch you up. Blessings!
Today we finished our Thursday Morning Bible Study on the Letter to the Philippians. We found it to be very applicable to our lives! Come join us next Thursday as we begin a study of 1 John!
